Workbook and Curriculum Coming Soon Paying For Guitar Lessons
Aug 192009

Lesson #1 in learning music theory is to understand the musical alphabet. Without getting too technical, just trust me and memorize these 3 things, and you’ll be able to start understanding the strange and amazing land of music theory.

1.) A-B-C-D-E-F-G (be able to say it backwards fast and without thinking about it too hard)
2.) G-F-E-D-C-B-A

That’s the basic alphabet. The third thing to memorize is the “Chromatic Alphabet” which includes the sounds in between the regular alphabet sounds (these are called the HALF STEPS in between):

3.) A-A#-B-C-C#-D-D#-E-F-F#-G-G# (no need to memorize this backwards yet).

The # symbol is called sharp so when you see it next to a letter say out loud {the letter} “Sharp”

That’s it for now. Just memorize ‘em.

The End

Much Respect,
Andrew Wonacott, President
